![]() But only with the purchase of this NAS have I been able to finally get a server that actually works reliably up and running. I also have been a Plex customer/lifetime Plex Pass holder for over 11 years. I have had many issues, namely with connectivity and a flaky cable, an old Netgear N300 router/modem and a few other things. Now I live under the umbrella of Xfinity/Comcast where this thing is. Additionally, I’ve moved some of my TCP hosting applications to this, and it’s been working pretty well! Nice thing, expandable, and so far I’ve been quite happy with it! With the expense of drives and other issues, I have been slowly expanding its capacity from one drive to the maximum of four (without the expansion bay). Ist ja schon fast peinlich. For Christmas last year I bought myself a Synology DS920+ NAS. After entering the pin, my domain pops up regulary in the browser dev tool. ![]() When i access my PMS from the plexhome login pops up. Take a look at the the browser dev tools to see the domain of the accessed files.Open the dev tools in your browser (F12 in most cases) and open the network tab there. To rule out problems with secure connection, you should deactive it during the exercise. This is where “Custom server access URLs” should come into play. I am pretty sure the stackoverflow link should give you a good understanding on what might be the said:Īccessing the server via “myHostname”:32400/web" works.Īt least the problem is solved on the network layerĪccessing the data via and the normal plex media player (mac) does not work right now. Of course you have to restart sshd after adding this option. sshd_config on the “middle machine” (public server): However, in order for the tunnel to bind to 0.0.0.0 instead of localhost, you have to use GatewayPorts in /etc/ssh You could compare it to a situation where a local client machine tells a router to forward a wan port to a port of the local client… (and i am not speaking about using the routers webui to add a portforwarding rule). The question is also, if PMS is listening to 32400 I probably cannot establish a tunnel with the same port (because its already taken) …Ī remote port forwarding binds a port from the target machine (your ssh server in the internet) and forwards it to the calling shell (your ssh shell at home). It only works directly on your server.Īpparently you are right. You could try to enter the “custom server access URL”/web in a browser… it should said:īy not selectable, I meant it’s not possible to add those addresses on directly. If you open Firebug and check the network traffic, you will see that the local hostname is not used once during network access. But they are used when you access your server using the “execute” button (in german it says “ausführen”). What do you mean by “it’s not selectable”? I use Custom server access URls myself and they are not displayed somewhere in myaccount settings. I had problems with dnsrebind when secure connections where introduced and accessing my server thru was not working, before i solved the dnsrebind issue. I am pretty certain that accesses your plex instance using the external interface (=if customer server access url is used to override the extern interface address). As long as your plex host is able to communicate to it should work regardless, if your are behind a nat or a double nat. It should register your “Custom server access URLs” to during the login. ![]() is done if you login with your details (menui tem: “General”). Your clients will fetch it/them from and use them automaticly to access your PMS. Custom server access URLs are responsible to publish the connection url(s) to. ![]() $ ssh -R 32400::32400 your custom server access URL will be (assumed you prefer secure connetions) : If you used this line to bind the remote port forwarding: The remote access server address is componsed of the hostname or ip of your linux server that is running in the internet and the port you are using. I definetly would like to use remote access and the only solution I was coming up would be a SSH tunnel to my linux server that is running in the internet. My problem is, that I am now in a double NAT solution without access to the various routers. ![]()
